The record breaking temperatures and nation-wide heat waves are enough to stiffle anyone’s workout regimen. You can still get fit, be cool, and have fun with pool workouts. Pool workouts are a great way to combine your time with family and friends and without missing a workout. Water is one of the best fitness tools: It provides resistance, which strengthens muscles and boosts cardio intensity. It also supports some of your weight, making workouts easier on joints and reducing injury. This pool workout from Gaby Reece, is a great way to get started. So jump in to your next pool workout this weekend!
Stretch:
- Lats, Chest, Triceps., Hip Flexors
In the Pool:
- Internal External Rotation 2 x 1
- Free style 5 min. x 1min intervals
- Shallow water jogs 2 min.
- Bent knee leg swing / hip Extension 2×10 each
- Abduction 3 x 20
Plyo:
- Bounce or Tuck jumps arms straight out 3 x 15
- Rocket jumps 3 x 15
- Double and single butt kicks 3 x 15
- Ice Skaters 3 x 15
(alt. exercises)
- Power step ups 3 x 10 each
- Scissor jumps 3 x10
Chest Deep Water:
- Leg extensions 3 x 10 / 10 fast
- Leg curls 3 x10 / 10 fast
Deep Water:
- Cycle -supers set with jacks 2 min.
- Jacks 2 min. non stop
Upper Body Circuit:
- Front raise / press back
- Cross over / pull back
- Curls / kick backs
(All three together) 2 x .20 sec. each with .45 sec rest between sets
