ACTION ALERT: Ask Congress to stop using tax dollars for bottled water
Did you know that Congress spent $190,000 on bottled water in the first quarter of 2010? Tax dollars to pay for water that should be about a penny a gallon. Even adding a filtration system would cost less. This does not even take into consideration the environmental cost of all those plastic water bottles. We have to trust that the people who are spending our money on bottled water are also recycling them.
Speaker Boehner wants to cut the budget for House offices. The general manager of DC Water and Sewage Authority (DC Water), George S. Hawkins, recently sent Speaker Boehner a letter urging him to cut expenses, protect the environment and help support investment in the nation’s drinking water infrastructure by dropping bottled water and choosing tap water.
Thanks to the Food & Water Watch, Foodandwaterwatch.org, we are aware of what is going on with U.S. tax dollars.
Are you wondering what you can do about this? Ask your representative to support fiscal responsibility by cutting spending on bottled water by clicking on the link below.
